The Hobbit/The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug is about uniting the Dwarfs with the Arcenstone and about slaying the dragon Smaug. In this story the wizard Gandalf says that the hobbit Bilbo Baggins is to be the burglar to rob the Arcenstone from Smaug. Bilbo is afraid of what Gandalf asks him to do (more tells him to do). Bilbo becomes the hero of this journey, but chooses to accept the quest. Bilbo and the characters in The Hobbit are a lot like us. We also must follow our own journey and accept challenges that frighten us.
In this story Bilbo escsaped a never ending forest, defeated spiders, escaped orcs, and elves, and of course, outwitted a fire breathing dragon to accomplish the quest of stealing the Arcestone.Obviously human beings don't have to do all of these things in our own llives, but we do have to overcome our own challenges to accomplish our goals. Gandalf is Bilbo's mentor in this story. He gives Bilbo challenges that he is afraid to face and pushes him to succeed at his quest. In our own lives we have mentors that help and push us like teachers and others. Lastly, in this story there is a dark presence called Sauron. In our own lives we must face and battle the darkness.
It's easy to connect to the movie The Hobbit because we are a lot like Bilbo. In our own lives we must face challenges, find help from mentors, and overcome darkness around us to accomplish our goals. the darkness we face depends on the person but we all go through it
